Deuteronomy - Deu 6:7-9 "You Shall Bind Them as a Sign..."
Deu 6:7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.
Deu 6:8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.
Deu 6:9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
These verses are very good verses that teach us something in the spirit. There is a new testament equivalent to these verses and is their actual meaning.
2Co 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
In this study we will cover how speaking of the statutes, commandments and judgments, teaching them to our children, when we are sitting, walking, lying down or rising up and binding them on our hands, between our eyes and writing them on the posts of our house and on our gates means we are examining ourselves whether we be IN THE FAITH. 'IN THE FAITH' will be the subject of this study and what being "in the faith" means. Being in the faith is the opposite of "the works of the law".
Gal 3:1 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
Gal 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
Gal 3:3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
When we read our verses today which are telling us to focus on the statutes, commandments and judgments, no matter where we are or what we're doing, our fleshly beast which rises out of the sea turns these laws into OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. We get a head wound by it telling us who we are and how we can never attain the righteousness of the law, yet we turn it into our righteousness by saying we can keep this law, which is in fact unrighteousness. The righteousness of the law is showing us our sin, not showing us how to keep the law. However, this is exactly what we do - we crown ourselves with keeping the law by the flesh and blaspheme God. The following verses describe our blasphemous righteousness by the law to the flesh.
Rev 13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. (Thinking you can keep the 10 commandments is blasphemy)
Rev 13:2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. (Joh 8:44 - ye are of your father the devil)
Rev 13:3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
Rev 13:4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
Rev 13:5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. (3 1/2 yrs - taking credit for the ministry of Christ by saying we already kept the law ourselves)
Rev 13:6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
Rev 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
Rev 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth SHALL WORSHIP HIM, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. (This is speaking of our flesh)
Rev 13:9 If any man have an ear, let him hear.
Rev 13:10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
We are that dragon, and we take credit for the 3 1/2 years of Christ's ministry, we receive the head wound by the sword of God's word, but the wound is healed by our own blasphemous doctrine of claiming we are a god separate and independent from the one true God. This power was given him by God to deceive our flesh because flesh and blood cannot enter the kingdom of God.
2Co 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
Notice that Paul is correlating between being "in the faith" and knowing that "Jesus Christ is in you" and that if Jesus Christ is not in you then you are "reprobate". So, if you are not in the faith you are reprobate. Did you catch that? Like Brother Mike says, "I didn't say it; I just read it." So we must find out what the word reprobate actually means;

The word is made up of two greek words, From G1 - alpha and G1384 - approved in the negative, so this words means the beginning of being unapproved, worthless from the BEGINNING, castaway from the beginning, rejected from the beginning. If we do not know that Christ is in us, we are reprobate from the beginning. If we know Christ is in us, we are approved from the beginning. Beginning of what?
Eph 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
Eph 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
The new man believes biblical truth because he was chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world and the flesh was not chosen. This is inward. But outwardly, we that know that Christ is in us, and we know because we were chosen to believe it before the foundation of the world. We were chosen to be in Christ, and that is the same as being in the faith. So, if you do not believe that Christ is literally in you and you are chosen and elected to believe from the foundation of the world, then you are a reprobate. You were unapproved from the beginning. And all flesh is reprobate. This is where this word reprobate is used and how it is translated;

If you believe that Jesus Christ is in you, then you believe it because you were elected before the foundation of the world, created approved from the beginning of the world, approved from the ALPHA to be an elect unto OMEGA. This election is nothing for us in which to glory. It takes away all glory from us and gives it to the Creator. What did the scriptures in Deuteronomy tell us to do in the flesh? We are to meditate on the commandments. How do we do that in the spirit? If Christ is in you, who is the Author of the commandments, then He Who is in us will show us how He kept these commandments, and the meditation will be on where the flesh falls short and declares the righteousness of the law. Then He will lead us to meditate on when we are weak in the law, He was strong and has kept the law on our behalf.
This is the process of showing us that when we are weak He is strong and through this process, He overcomes our flesh and brings it into subjection to the law of the Spirit which is "Christ in me the hope of glory". If Christ is in me, then He Who raised Him from the dead shall also give life to our mortal bodies by showing us that what we cannot do because of the weakness of the flesh, He has done for us. This brings to pass the saying "oh death where is thy sting or grave where is thy victory?"
Rom 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
Rom 8:10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
Rom 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.1Co 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
If we are in the faith now in these mortal dead bodies, and Christ is in us, and we are not reprobates in the spirit, then we HAVE BEEN RESURRECTED, we are alive now, we have been resurrected in the first resurrection. Let's see how the Spirit brings this out in the following verses.
1Co 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
If flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, then He cannot be telling us in Romans 8:9-11 that He will "QUICKEN" or make alive our mortal body in the way our flesh reads that verse. Earlier in this chapter He says, "Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die: And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:" But what happens in the next verses explain the truth of what he is speaking, what is quickened and in what way it is quickened.
1Co 15:51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
1Co 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
This last trump is in fact ordinal, but it does not become ordinal unless it has become spiritual first. Unless we can see that we are dead by the law, in darkness and void of anything of ourselves in the past or future, we cannot see ourselves as alive. That which we sow, unless we see it as dead, cannot bring forth the life of Christ as we just read above from 1Co 15:36-37. This resurrection is happening now. It is the quickening of me now. It is the first resurrection.
Joh 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
Joh 11:26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. BELIEVEST THOU THIS?Php 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
Php 3:11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.Rev 20:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.1Co 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.(NOW)
1Co 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
When we see that Christ lives in us and that Christ has clothed us in Himself, we see that we have been clothed in IMMORTALITY. We have begun our resurrection, our ascension from the dead, dying daily, resurrecting daily, to more and more of what I thought I was. We are meditating on the commandments that kill our flesh that cannot inherit the kingdom of God, and then we are quickened because we are in Christ. This is the process of 1Co 15:35-49 happening now in our aion, this is our creation process where God is recreating us into what pleases Him (1Co 15:38). When this process has truely sunk in, it then quickens us from the thought of fear of literal death because we realize we don't die;
1Co 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
Why has death lost its sting and the grave its victory? Because I now know that the righteousness of the law is when Christ shows me what I am by the law, NOW! That what I am is what I am because He created me to be that bare grain (1Co 15:37) which He would kill by the law to recreate what pleases Himself. The whole process of death and then life is the plan of CREATION by THE CREATOR. I am being created by death and life and have never been seen by God as dead, but alive in Christ. This is your plan also as an Elect;
Rom 14:7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.
Rom 14:8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
Rom 14:9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
Now listen to these last verses few verses in Corinthians;
1Co 15:56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
1Co 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1Co 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
The law that killed me brought me life through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Rom 7:13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.
It did become exceeding sinful. It exceeded to the point that Christ died for it and brought me life all as part of the creation process; Christ being the first seed to go into the ground and die.
Col 1:23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
If you continue to be grounded and settled in the faith. This is the same thing that is meant by building a house upon a rock (Mat 7:24-27). When we are grounded and settled in the gospel we are in the faith. If we lean to our own understanding, we are not in the faith in that area of the life of Christ. We cannot say "I" and think we are in the faith, because in Christ there is no "I" but one body made of different parts; each part serving its purpose for the Body. This is continuing in the faith.
Col 2:7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
Being rooted and built up in Him is being in the faith is to be shown by the law of the flesh that I am sin. I cannot keep any commandment, and I do not have it within myself to be holy, just and good.
If you are in the faith you are shown that it is the righteousness of the law that shows you your sin.
This is the righteousness of the law, to show me what I am by the law of the flesh. To be in the faith is to see yourself as totally destitute of any value in the flesh and totally unable to give anything to God. But once faith has come, I was shown that all that I was, am and will be is by the predestined hand of God. I cannot attain a righteousness by the law but a righteousness that is by the faith of Jesus Christ. I gain an understanding that my trust is not in what I can do, what I have done or what I will do but solely on the works of Jesus Christ. It is the faith that is imparted to us from Christ so that we can trust in the finished works of Christ. We put off the old man, the beast with 10 horns, with ten crowns upon those horns, as a show of the kingship of his own body. We put him off by seeing that it was all a lie, and we are nothing separate from Christ. This is resisting the devil;
1Pe 5:9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
It is the greatest challenge for us to not rely on the flesh, not to give credit to the flesh. It's hard to resist the adversary because his focus is always on the flesh. His focus is always trying to tell us what we need to do to get right with God. He is always concerned about our relationship with God, because he doesn't want us to have one. He wants us to worship the flesh and thereby worship him. This is the meaning of Christ telling him that man does not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. Christ is the mouth of God and Christ created my life from beginning to end and what ever that predestined life has in store is what I will live by.
Psa 139:16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. (ESV)
So to be in the faith is to be in Christ, to be in Christ is to be so united to Him that you realize that you are His literal body, and all the days for that body has been written for the glory of God. To teach the commandments, statutes, and judgments is to be taught how far we fall short in the flesh and how far we rise in Christ.
