How Deuteronomy 11:18 Explains the Book of Daniel
Last week we showed how the frontlet between the eyes was a parable of how we see God and ourselves. We see either through the law of the flesh or the law of the spirit of Christ. We either exalt the things of the flesh by the two horns of the law of the flesh or we exalt Christ by the two horns of the law of the spirit. We either see the two covenants as one, or we see the old covenant as one and the new covenant as one and form our two-horned ram. The new covenant, according to Babylon, is the second horn that is higher than the other one. The new testament is exalted over the old testament and explains away the old testament as not applicable to us. The flesh uses the old testament to establish its laws according to the flesh but then explains away the rest as mere history lessons instead of it being opened up by the new testament. In this idol worship we exalt “Bel-shazzar” as king. Belshazzar is from H1112 and means “Bel protect the king”.

BDB Definition:
Belshazzar = “Bel protect the king”
1) king of Babylon at the time of its fall; he to whom Daniel interpreted the writing on the wall
Part of Speech: noun proper masculine
A Related Word by BDB/Strong’s Number: of foreign origin (compare H1095)“Bel” is another name for “Baal” the Babylonian god.
“Ba’al, spelled as Baal in English was the legendary god of the Phoenicians and the Canaanites usually pictured as an opponent of God in the Bible. He was known by the Babylonians as Bel and was the leading god of the Phoenicians usually associated with Ashtaroth in the Old Testament. He was also thought of as the son of the chief Canaanite god El with Ashera. “https://amazingbibletimeline.

Then we are given insight into who we are worshiping as we go through the process of judgment. Hence the beginning of Daniel 8: “In the third year of the reign of king Belshazzar a vision appeared unto me.” God shows us the “hidden” rulership and jurisdiction of Christ in Daniel 8 as the province of Elam. We see He is “the Lily” of our valley, the name of “Shushan”. When I see my judgment of worshipping Belshazzar, “Bel protect the king”, I am by the river of my “pomp”, the definition of the word river and the name of that river is “Ulai”, my leaders.
Belshazzar – H1112 = BDB – Belshazzar = “Bel protect the king”
Daniel – H1840 – BDB = Daniel = “God is my judge”
Shushan – H7800 – BDB = Shushan or Susa = “lily”
Province – H4082 – Strongs = From H1777; properly a judgeship, that is, jurisdiction;
Elam – H5867 – Strongs = Probably from H5956; hidden, that is, distant;
River – H180 – Strongs = From H2986 (in the sense of H2988); a stream: – river.
Ulai – H195 – BDB = Ulai = “my leaders (mighties)”
Having this knowledge about the description of the frontlet, that the frontlet represents what we use as our power to see the world and ourselves, and God lets us now connect it to Daniel chapter 8. We must know what the meanings of the names of these places are before we can ever understand how this applies to us inwardly. That’s why I wrote the definitions down above. These definitions open the doors for us to see the meaning we are to understand from these verses. When we are seeing with the frontlet of the spirit and knowing the meaning of the names, the things hidden from the world in parables, come alive to the body of Christ. Let’s read this chapter as it applies to us personally, as we are worshippers of Baal unknowingly. It is hidden from us (Elam), we see ourselves through the frontlet of us as king of our own lives, and we believe we are king of our own Babylon. To rightly explain what these scriptures are telling us, we must make sure we do not speak above what scripture tells us. Even relying on the definitions alone without backing it up with scripture is foolish. So, to make sure we are rightly dividing the word, we must explain each definition of each word and how we come to the conclusion with scripture. It is a slow process, but we cannot allow the flesh to become lazy and lean to is own understanding, thereby again worship Belshazzar as king. We will start with these first two verses and then explain them by scripture.
Dan 8:1 In the third year [process of judgment] of the reign [dominion] of king Belshazzar [Bel protect the king] a vision appeared unto me, even unto me Daniel [judge of God], after that which appeared unto me at the first.
Dan 8:2 And I saw in a vision; and it came to pass, when I saw, that I was at Shushan [Lily] in the palace, which is in the province [jurisdiction] of Elam [hidden]; and I saw in a vision, and I was by the river [stream of pomp making the river] of Ulai [pomp is my leaders].
We know from scripture that the number three represents the process of judgment. In the first verse we are told this vision comes while “IN” the third year of the reign of Belshazzar, while in the process of judgment. When the dream came to the baker in Genesis 40, he had entered judgment, was IN the third day, “WITHIN THREE DAYS”.
Gen 40:18 And Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation thereof: The three baskets are three days:
Gen 40:19 Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang thee on a tree; and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee.
The word “reign” as described in verse one shows the rulership of Belshazzar as king of Babylon. To reign is to hold all authority over something or someone.
1Co 15:24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
1Co 15:25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
Belshazzar (“bel protect the king”) is a description of our man of sin who believes he is God, that all authority and rule has been given to him to rule his own world as he sees fit and protect himself as king.
2Th 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed [be revealed, because he is hidden like the jurisdiction of Elam is hidden from us], the son of perdition;
2Th 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.2Th 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work [the unknown truth about who the man of sin is, is a mystery to all, and that he is already at work is a hidden truth no one knows but Daniel [God is my judge]: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
2Th 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed [then the fact we are in the palace where Belshazzar reigns from is revealed], whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
As we stated earlier, Bel is another name for “Baal”, and we know Baal worship was the leading idol worship of Israel during their apostasy.
1Ki 18:21 And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.
2Ki 17:16 And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.
Daniel’s name by definition means “God is my judge” – BDB. The name broken down starts with “Dan”, and the tribe of Dan was given the north country in the promised land, and judgment comes from the north in scripture. From north to south is the same as from Dan to Beersheba (2Sa 3:10, 1Sa 3:20) Dan being the northern tribe.
2Sa 3:10 To translate the kingdom from the house of Saul, and to set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, from Dan even to Beersheba.
1Sa 3:20 And all Israel from Dan even to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of the LORD.
But Daniel did not judge the people. No, Daniel’s prophesy was about the judgment of himself, the chastening of himself because he was given to see the truth. Daniel is shown what is in him. He is us, and from what he sees about himself leads him to judge himself, to repent from who he has been worshiping – himself.
Dan 9:3 And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:
Dan 9:4 And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;
Dan 9:5 We [I] have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments:
Dan 9:6 Neither have we [I] hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.
Dan 9:7 O Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us [me] confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they (I) have trespassed against thee.
Dan 9:8 O Lord, to us [me] belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our [my)]fathers, because we [I] have sinned against thee.
Dan 9:9 To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we [I] have rebelled against him;
Dan 9:10 Neither have we [I] obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us [me] by his servants the prophets.
Dan 9:11 Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we [I] have sinned against him.
He is shown that it is not a ten-second sinner’s prayer but a life-long process of killing the Medes and Persians in me by Grecia and then killing Grecia in me. It is introspection of self, a showing of who and what we are from birth. Then we are shown that it is through our brothers we are strengthened and shown we are dearly loved of our LORD. This understanding can only come through chastening grace. We are now going to read the whole tenth chapter of Daniel which will show us about this process. I pray we all have eyes to see what is being said. We must remember that Daniel is not Daniel, Daniel is you and me in type, and what he wrote was not written for himself but for us.
1Pe 1:10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you [including Daniel]:
1Pe 1:11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them [judgment] did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
1Pe 1:12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
Let’s read about our salvation from the man of sin.
Dan 10:1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision [Act 14:22 – read – not a short ten-second sinner’s prayer but a long time of much tribulation).
Dan 10:2 In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks.
Dan 10:3 I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.
Dan 10:4 And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel [Gen 2:14 coming out of the west, out of darkness, towards the east, the light];
Dan 10:5 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz:
Dan 10:6 His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude [Christ in us].
Dan 10:7 And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves [Act 9:7].
Dan 10:8 Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength [We see comeliness as corruption and as the man of sin, and we see ourselves as powerless].
Dan 10:9 Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground [seeing ourselves for the first time as the clay vessel we are].
Dan 10:10 And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.
Dan 10:11 And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling.
Dan 10:12 Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.
Dan 10:13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days [unity of the witness of the completion of the flesh]: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.
Dan 10:14 Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days.
Dan 10:15 And when he had spoken such words unto me, I set my face toward the ground, and I became dumb.
Dan 10:16 And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips [this is one of us speaking to each other, this was me when I first came to see the truth]: then I opened my mouth, and spake, and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength.
Dan 10:17 For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me.
Dan 10:18 Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me,
Dan 10:19 And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me.
Dan 10:20 Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee [Do you know why I am here? The next sentence tells us why we are strengthening our brothers and sisters.] and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come.
Dan 10:21 But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things [There is no one who fights with us], but Michael your prince. [Christ is our Prince through whom all things come.]
The verses we just read showed us who we were inwardly and how Christ opens our eyes, through our brothers in Christ, and shows us the judgment of ourselves. It is through this knowledge the Medes and Persians, the knowledge we think we have in the flesh, is defeated. Our ram with two horns is crushed by the weight of the he-goat with one horn when God shows us who we really are. This knowledge is given to us when Babylon in us is defeated by us being given over to our flesh. When the flesh has been given totally over, everything I thought about my goodness and wisdom is crushed by the lasciviousness that is allowed to crush Babylon. It is not other countries, other nations against other nations literally, it is nations against nations within me. It is the beast eating the flesh of the Great Whore, who rode upon my back for years. She tried to control the beast within us by religion, but no man can tame the beast, and he is let loose to war against the whore, to eat her flesh, for God has put it our hearts to fulfill His will, and to agree and give our kingdom to the beast until the words of God are fulfilled in my life and your life. Babylon is broken by the lasciviousness and uncontrollability of the one-horned he-goat beast. The beast cannot be tamed by religion.
Rev 17:16 And the ten horns [completion of the beast, the he-goat) which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. [This is when the flesh is given over to lasciviousness and destroys the religious system we have been under – the two-horned ram. An example of that is how the people of the United States are taking God out of schools and government buildings. They are attacking anything religious as evil.]
Rev 17:17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.
Rev 17:18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.Rev 13:4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
This same inward principle is to be also taken outwardly to the whole world. The whole world will turn against religion and WILL eat her flesh and fulfill the will of God in crushing Babylon (We can see that happening today with the passing of laws to take any mention of God out of our daily lives, schools, government buildings, etc.). The beast is the he-goat, and the beast will crush all religion in us first, then it will occur outwardly to the world as a whole. More sin, more rebellion, uncontrolled murder, stealing fornication, lying, and distain for all authority of any kind will increase. The beast of mankind will break forth as a wild man and will crush all religion for the beast is a religion to himself. He believes he is God. The ram with two horns that comes out of the east, the light of the sun, pushing north, west and south is our religion in us. The he-goat that comes from the west, where the darkness of the setting sun is, destroys the ram as our man of sin. The ram is my inward man that wants to do good through religion, and the he-goat is my true self, who I am, and will eventually crush all religion in me. This is the process in the elect, not in those that do not know God and are still just the ram until the he-goat is shown to them in the lake of fire. The battle between the ram and the he-goat is the same as these new testament verses.
Rom 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
Rom 7:15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
Rom 7:16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.
Rom 7:17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Rom 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
Rom 7:19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
Rom 7:20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Rom 7:21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
Rom 7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
Rom 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
Below is the beginning of the origin of our names when we are “being judged of God”.
Gen 49:16 Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.
Gen 49:17 Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.
Gen 49:18 I have waited for thy salvation, O LORD.
The last part of the name is “el” and comes from H410 – “god-like one, mighty one” – BDB and “The Almighty” – Strong’s and is brought out in the following verses;
Gen 14:22 And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God [el’], the possessor of heaven and earth,
Deu 7:21 Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for the LORD thy God is among you, a mighty God [el’] and terrible.
When you put this information together you can see that we are Daniel, being judged by the visions from God on our man of sin, Belshazzar.
Once we understand who we are, we see we are being judged, and we say, “I saw in a vision; and it came to pass, when I saw, that I was at Shushan.” We see we are in “the Lily”. It has come to pass when we see. We are turning to look at who we are and that we are in the Lily but this only comes after we are judged. We see that we are in the kingdom of Belshazzar claiming ourselves as the lily, in the kingdom, which is in the jurisdiction of the mystery of INIQUITY, the man of sin. Yet once we are shown who we think we are, that it was hidden from us in a mystery, we then are shown the true Lily in which we are, the true Kingdom of the Jurisdiction of the true Hidden One. We see that Christ truly is the all in all and has blinded us from the beginning.
“… and I saw in a vision, and I was by the river (stream of pomp leading into a river) of Ulai (pomp is my leaders)”.
The word river in this verse is H180. From H2986 (in the sense of H2988); a stream: – river. We must break this word down and see what it is actually saying. It comes from the word H2986 – to flow; causatively to bring (especially with pomp): – bring (forth), carry, lead (forth). The word H180 is from this word H2986 in the sense of H2988– a stream: – [water-] course, stream. So the river by which we are standing comes from a stream, a lesser flow of water course until it develops into a RIVER of POMP. What does scripture tell us about “pomp”?
Isa 14:4 That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon [Belshazzar- our man of sin], and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased! [Remember, we are standing in the palace of Belshazzar]
Isa 14:5 The LORD hath broken the staff of the wicked, and the sceptre of the rulers. [I saw in a vision, I Daniel]
Isa 14:6 He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth.
Isa 14:7 The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing.
Isa 14:8 Yea, the fir trees rejoice at thee, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, Since thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us.
Isa 14:9 Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming [Hades for the elect, judgment upon our man of sin]: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations [everything I thought I was and even the things I had forgotten I thought I was].
Isa 14:10 All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us?
Isa 14:11 Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.
Isa 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! [Lucifer is not the fabled story of Satan using his freewill to rebel against God, but what we think of ourselves as natural brute beasts. It is our Belshazzar, king of Babylon.]
Isa 14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: [This is us thinking we hold all the judgment that will ascend us into the heavens to be God, and this is us thinking we are Dan before we have even received our inheritance]
Isa 14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
Isa 14:15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
Isa 14:16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
Isa 14:17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?
Isa 14:18 All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.
Isa 14:19 But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet.[We are the abomination that has brought the desolation of God’s judgment].
Isa 14:20 Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.
Isa 14:21 Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.
Isa 14:22 For I will rise up against them, saith the LORD of hosts, and cut off from Babylon the name, and remnant, and son, and nephew, saith the LORD./strong>
Isa 14:23 I will also make it a possession for the bittern, and pools of water: and I will sweep it with the besom of destruction, saith the LORD of hosts.
Once we have been shown all this, look at what happens and what we start seeing about how we will be judged from this point on, because remember we are IN THE third YEAR OF BELSHAZZAR AND HIS REIGN. Who we are inwardly and who we are in the eyes of God will now be revealed, and the stream of POMP which ended up being a roaring river of our self-righteousness glorification will be stopped to allow the new man to cross.
Jos 1:11 Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it.
Jos 3:13 And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan, that the waters of Jordan shall be cut off from the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand upon an heap.
Jos 3:14 And it came to pass, when the people removed from their tents, to pass over Jordan, and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people;
Jos 3:15 And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,)
Jos 3:16 That the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon an heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho.
Jos 3:17 And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the midst of Jordan, and all the Israelites passed over on dry ground, until all the people were passed clean over Jordan.
After we are in our process of judgment, we begin to see who we are in the stages of our lives, in the negative. We must never forget there is also a positive application to all this, and if the LORD wills, we will cover it in a future study.
